The Office of the President
The President of the SGA is the official voice of the SGA and the Student Body. The president is responsible for the efficient operation of the SGA and reports to President Hurley. The SGA President also presents a report to the Board of Visitors and advocated for all of the students needs. and preferences. The Student Body President is responsible for the efficient operation of the SGA. The President appoints all students to committees on campus. The SGA President has the power to fill appointed positions which are as follows: The Executive Coordinator, the Communications Director, the Director of Community Outreach, the Technology Coordinator, the Treasurer and the Secretary.
To become SGA President, a student must be enrolled at the University of Mary Washington at the time of nominations, be in good academic standing (2.2 or above) and no pending judicial charges.
The Office of the Vice President
The Vice President is the official voice of the Senate and takes over if the President is unable to fulfill their duties. The Vice President is in charge of the daily operation of the Senate and will appoint all the committee chairpersons at the start of each new academic year. The Vice President bring the Executive Cabinet all senate motions for their consideration.
To become SGA Vice President, a student must be enrolled at the University of Mary Washington at the time of nominations, be in good academic standing (2.2 or above) and no pending judicial charges. Furthermore, you must have served one semester in the Senate, including the semester in which you are running for election.
The Honor Council President
The Honor Council President represents the SGA on all issues of Honor while leading the Honor Council during hearings. The Honor Council President leads the judicial branch of the SGA ensuring every student is aware of Honor and how it impact their lives at UMW.
To become Honor Council President, a student must be enrolled at the University of Mary Washington at the time of nominations, be in good academic standing (2.2 or above) and no pending judicial charges.
The Office Legislative Action Committee Chairperson
The LAC Chair is responsible for dealing with all politics that affect the university. The LAC Chair works with the local, state and federal government on all issues that benefit or affect Mary Washington. The LAC Chair works with the SGA to plan Lobby Day, Constitution Day and works to advice the SGA on all issues that are political in nature.
The Office of the Commuting Student Association President
The CSA President is responsible for representing commuter students to SGA, all University Offices and the Fredericksburg Community. The CSA President will work to improve life for commuter students at Mary Washington though student life and other activities.
To be the CSA President, the Student must be a commuter.
The Association of Residence Halls President
The ARH President represents all issues of residence life to the SGA. They’ve helped work on projects like Party Smart this year and help students work with Hall Councils to achieve various goals in their Residence Halls.
The Academic Affairs Committee Chairperson
The AAC Chair works to represent students to our amazing faculty. The Chair works with the faculty often to articulate what students are thinking and then in turn return those concerns back to the SGA. In the upcoming year, the AAC Chair will work to ensure student voices are heard in the University Faculty Governance Structure.
The Office of the Diversity and Unity Coordinating Committee Executive Chairperson
The DUCC Executive Chairperson is responsible for running all DUCC meetings and works to correspond with the administration and faculty in regards to programming of DUCC initiatives. The DUCC Executive Chairperson will appoint their own Vice President within two weeks of being elected.
The Office of the Inter-Club Association President
The ICA President organizes the Club Presidents meeting each month for the purpose of distributing information that concern the students involved. The ICA President works with the Executive Cabinet to admit new clubs into ICA.
Judicial Review Board President
The JRB is also a branch of the Judicial side of the SGA and is responsible for fair hearings for students who violate the code of conduct.
