We are dedicated to making sure UMW continues to build its efforts towards a sustainable future. By starting and continuing a number of new projects, we’ll reduce our impact on the Earth and do our part to make sure we’re keeping our community clean. Everyone should do their part, here’s how we are helping.
The President’s Council on Sustainability
The council will advise the University President and his cabinet and assist in the development of goals in the areas of: Administration and Finance, Education and Research, Operation, and Innovation and Awareness. The PCS will meet monthly throughout the academic year. Members need to make a significant commitment to sustainability work and each person will participate in additional groups that undertake projects outside the monthly meetings.

It’s obvious that we need to commute to new places all over Fredericksburg, Richmond and the D.C. Metro. Our commitment to lowering our Carbon Footprint starts with providing a network where students can share rides with their friends in a safe and responsible manner. UMW Rideshare was started by a student, and is used by students. Let’s make it larger.
